Cyberthreat Real-Time Maps

Updated: 26 December 2017

How many cyber attacks occur each day around the globe?  The number is astronomical, and cyber attacks are not showing signs of slowing. One cyber attack in particular has the Internet buzzing in 2017.  Uber had paid hackers $100,000 to delete data on 57M customers according to Eric Newcomer’s article on Bloomberg.com.   Uber’s breach occurred in October of 2016.  One single cyber attack can net more than 1000 TB of data or 1,000,000 GB of data.  There are an estimated 3.2 Billion Internet users, and emerging mobile computing is a culprit.  Mobile applications are convenient, and yet vulnerabilities are built in.   Is there a way to track cyber attacks daily?  No, cyber attack maps are a subset of recorded attacks or a playback of sanitized packet captures according to Senor Staff Writer of CSO, Steve Ragan.   Data packet captures are the sliver lining in playback. Eight common real-time maps are linked below in numerical order.

There are more than 10 million cyber-attacks per day!  In a year, the number is astronomical. A visual representation of hosts and IP addresses affected can be viewed at Blueliv’s website: https//community.blueliv.com/map/. Kaspersky’s has developed a real-time map to display types of exploits used in cyberattacks: https//cybermap.kaspersky.com/.
