The Poet

When was the last time anyone told you how important you are?
He dared to love everybody.
Pay for those who are yet to come.

The three comments above are some of the more piquancy words from Maya Angelou YouTube interview with George Stroumboulopoulos on May 28, 2014.

Much of the interview, Maya Angelou laughs, instructs and sings as no other songstress- authentically.

Although her biography is filled with challenges and rainbows, her approach to success was simple: others believed I could do better.  Her words influenced, confronted and enthralled. She was the younger of two children born to Bailey Johnson and Vivian Baxter on April 04, 1928.  The next 40 years Angelou’s journey had broken barriers, breached heartaches, encouraged changes and reached plateaus.  After the death of  Martin Luther King Jr. in 1968, her most notable achievement was written, which she refers in Stroumboulopoulos’ interview. Angelou said, “She had declined to return with Dr. King to raise money for The Poor People’s March until after her birthday.”  Martin Luther King Jr was assassinated on her birthday.  His story ends, and she begins to write her autobiography I Know Why The Caged Bird Sings.  The biography was published a year later.  Maya Angelou was/is a remarkable human.
